HP OpenView Internet
Services (OVIS) does not require other
HP OpenView products
to run. However, OVIS integrates out-of-the-box with other
products in the OpenView family to provide a complete
management solution.
OVIS features a
close integration with OpenView Transaction Analyzer to
provide drill-down diagnostics on J2EE and DNA components,
allowing customers to quickly pinpoint the bottleneck in
even the most dynamic Web application infrastructures.
OVIS tells you that you have a problem and OVTA helps you
find it.
Probes can be
tick-boxed to forward events to
HP OpenView Network
Node Manager, which automatically generates propagation
sensitive submaps with icons representing customers,
services and service level objectives. Message delivery is
guaranteed: if Network Node Manager goes down it will
reestablish contact with HP
OpenView Internet Services to process buffered alarms.
Views are automatically updated if Customer Views is
present. Forwarded events are viewable under a new alarm
category and a new menu item allows network operators to
launch the HP
OpenView Internet Services dashboard.
Probes can also be
tick-boxed to forward events to
HP OpenView
Operations and HP
OpenView Operations for Windows via the opcmsg interface.
OVIS events can then be correlated with other network,
systems and applications events from across the
enterprise. Furthermore, OVIS events are complemented by
events arising from predefined
HP OpenView
Operations policies for leading Web servers and e-commerce
applications and by predefined diagnostic applications
available within the HP
OpenView Desktop.
Service views are
automatically generated in
HP OpenView Operations for Windows for discovered
Microsoft Web applications listed above. Similarly,
service views are automatically generated in
HP OpenView Service
Navigator for the standard protocols monitored by OVIS.
OVIS leverages the
HP OpenView Reporter
technology. This ensures a consistent look and feel of the
reports across OV products. If OV Reporter is installed
already or is installed on top of the OVIS database, then
you can report on OVIS data along with other system and
application data.
Probe data can be
stored in ARM format as well as the OV Reporter database.
Thus, HP OpenView
Performance can be used to correlate OVIS data with system
and application data.
OVIS integrates
out-of-the-box with HP
OpenView Service Information Portal. |
