SAN Management

SAN Manager DM
Offers comprehensive & centralized device management of the SAN environment.

SAN Manager LM
Enables users to manage SAN security efficiently with heterogeneous servers and storage devices.

SAN Manager LM
Overview

SAN manager lun management (lm) software provides SAN storage access management. The storage security provided by SAN manager lm enables users to build and manage complex SANs with heterogeneous servers and storage devices. IT managers can confidently assign storage to one or more hosts assured that no other hosts have access to the devices.

With SAN manager lm, the IT manager can view storage and nodes and manage the entire SAN from one centralized console. An intuitive graphical user interface with drag-and-drop capabilities makes storage assignment fast and accurate. Storage assigned exclusively to each host is clearly displayed in a simple tree structure. SAN manager lm also provides a powerful, error-free way to visualize and manage storage configurations where more than one host must access the same device(s), making it invaluable for cluster server and shared tape environments.

Features

  • LUN level storage assignment - optimizes storage utilization by enabling any LUN to be assigned to any host.

  • Storage security - prevents data loss and unauthorized access by controlling which host can access specific storage devices.

  • Highly scalable - simplifies administration since one software solution may be used in a wide range of configurations.

  • Add/remove/assign storage without host reboots - allows administrators to assign storage whenever it is needed without interrupting host operation, increasing overall system availability.

  • No single point of failure - system availability is maintained by the highly available, mirrored SAN configuration database that is accessed independently by hosts.

  • Automated storage network discovery - automatically populating configuration database with host and storage device information dramatically reduces configuration time and eliminates a major source of errors.

  • Share Groups for cluster configurations - clear visualization of storage accessible to multiple hosts prevents errors when setting up cluster server and shared tape device environments.

SAN Manager DM

Overview

SAN management is a critical component of successful SAN implementation. In IT environments with large and continually increasing data volumes where performance is a critical factor, HP SureStore SAN Manager Device Management (DM) provides comprehensive, centralized management of a storage area network (SAN) environment.

Leveraging the power and proven effectiveness of HP OpenView Network Node Manager, SAN Manager DM administers the SAN through the use of SAN topology maps, event monitoring and by serving as a launch point for device applications.

Features

  • Centralized Management Console - Operators no longer need to run from device to device to troubleshoot problems. Adding, deleting, or changing storage configurations and tracking data center environment changes are handled through a single interface.
  • Multi-Vendor Host Support - Choose among market share leaders including Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, HP-UX and SUN servers.
  • Auto-Discovery of Devices - Maximized availability as changes in the SAN are immediately identified and mapped through continual automatic discovery.
  • Graphical Device Maps - Easy to interpret visual status of all aspects of the SAN, including redundant connections between devices.
  • Device Icons - Efficient management through a standard set of icons.
  • Device Applications - Reduced configuration and troubleshooting time by launching device applications from the management station.
  • Status and Event Monitoring - Proactive and quick isolation through visible alerts and alarms that display the health of each design (event logs maintained for review at any time).
  • Asset Management - Customizable locations fields allow system administrators to easily identify physical location of devices in large, distributed (e.g. campus) environments.
